The museum offers opportunities for people to participate in various ways like outreach programs, workshops, and events. We also need volunteers and docents to help us with various tasks such as our bulk mailings, assisting with hands-on activities in our outreach programs for children and some office work. People can also get involved by joining the museum as a Member (Individual or Business) or by contributing to our Friends of the Museum. Our quarterly newsletter is mailed to all Members and Friends of the museum, who are also eligible to receive discounts for museum events and at our gift shop.

Friends of the Museum

The Museum has an Annual Giving Campaign each spring for funding the support of particular aspects of the museum. Donors may designate contributions for general operations, for endowment, or for specific purposes like collections care, exhibits, or museum publications. The museum is a non- profit organization with 501(c)(3) status, so this support is often tax-deductible. And your contribution helps us to raise funds needed for matching grants for special museum exhibits and programs.

The museum relies on volunteers and docents in various capacities. If you are interested in helping us periodically please contact the museum's Executive Director. We rely on volunteers to help with bulk mailings or other similar, occasional functions. We also count on volunteers and retired school teachers for helping our Museum Educator with our children's outreach workshops and activities, which usually take about 90 minutes of your time per program.
